EVENT DETAILS
Bergen County SealTHE PARK
The Saddle River County Park goes through the towns of Paramus, Fairlawn, & Ridgewood in Bergen County, New Jersey. Geographically, the park is near the junctions of Route 4 & Route 17. It is a very popular area for recreation on the weekends.

There is a 10 to 20 ft. wide paved jogging/biking/skating path through the park. The topography of the park itself is billiard table flat, and some of the park has been recently repaved so it is smoooooth & fast. At each of the 4 major park areas there are water fountains and restrooms.

NORTH SECTION
The path is in the shape of a "Y". At the top of each of the two north forks of the "Y" there is a park with a duck pond. At the junction of the "Y" there is also park. At each park there are water fountains and restrooms.

SOUTH SECTION
The path is in the shape of a "figure 8". One of the circles goes around a duck pond, and the other circle encloses both coasts of a stream.

THE AREA
If you are driving, it's less than 20 miles from Manhattan. On Sundays there are "blue laws" in Bergen County, and all of the stores on Route 17 are closed. So that means No Mall Traffic! No car - No problem. Coming via public transportation is also easy.

The Ridgewood train station will be the meeting point for bus riders, train riders & drivers. Across from the train station there are several places to get food & drink before we start. There is a "Bagelicious" bagel shop, a "Specialty Cup" coffee house, and a Dunkin Donuts.

I will gather everyone up at around 10:45, and at 11 we will skate to the park. This will be through a residential neighborhood. After skating through the park for a couple of hours, we will return to the train station.

Afterwards we can either get food & drinks at a streetside café in town, or we might carpool to my house for a Post-Skate BBQ!

Sorry, this skate is NOT FOR BEGINNERS.
You must be able to brake on a downhill & handle bumps, potholes, rough pavement, wood slatted bridges, etc. If you do not have these skills, please come back on a FUTURE date when after you have aquired them.

As always, a helmet & wrist guards are REQUIRED.
Elbow & knee pads are optional.
