 Mission Statement
The Russian Children's Welfare Society is dedicated to assisting
disadvantaged Russian children improve their lives. Our organization
was formed in 1926 to assist Russian children and families
who emigrated to the West. While the Society maintains its
tradition of assisting the children of Russian emigrants,
we focus on programs that help children in Russia, supporting
organizations that effectively enhance their health, education
and social welfare.
General Information
The Russian Children's Welfare Society (RCWS)
was established in New York City in 1926
to improve the lives of needy children of
Russian descent around the world. The Society's
work has traditionally provided grants to
emigrant children in Europe, South America
and the United States in need of direct material
assistance. In the last 78 years, we have distributed approximately
$10,000,000 in grants, helping over 40,000 children in their
struggle against poverty.
 Since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia has experienced
a grave social crisis, placing millions of children at-risk.
Given such great need, the Society now directs the majority
of its yearly aid to programs in Russia. The Society continues
to offer assistance to emigrant families, as necessary. Please
